Time magazine coverage (Dec. 1 Issue) of the "SORRY STATE OF AMERICAN HEALTH" on the cover states Americans are "less healthy' then they used to be, and next generation may be worse off.

Inside article headline states "5 Truths About health Care In America.

Now these make me feel better since someone else is telling you what I have been telling you for two years and Time is considered an authorative source.

Number 1.

They say US spends far more on health care then any other nation. ...and says it will be one fifth of US economy in nine years. (our figures and their graph show it about 16% now.) or $7,026 per person.

Your Editor notes: This high health care figures into the US competitive world markets, because not only do US employers have to add in higher labor costs, they have to pay for these high health care costs for their employees... and add into the costs of their products which are then priced out of the world market. In self defense the employer has to contract out his production to overseas where these costs are lower. So the American health crisis is tied to the American economy, jobs being froced overseas, and both are going down the tubes because of ridiculously high health care costs.

Our question all along has been just "what are you getting" for all this money.? It certainly is not "longer life" then elsewhere. You are getting second class health results for twice the money of the UK, for example.

Japan with the highest life expectancy in the world, spends just 7.9% of their gross national product on health, compared to the US 16% according to Time.

With time listing US as 34th nation in the world on life expectancy just two up from Mexico. .. Others quote the US now at 46th in the world and slipping down the list rapidly.. Time then says in the December 3rd issue: Yet the U.S. is not healthier for the money. We live shorter lives and have a higher infant mortality rate then many other developed nations.

U.S. Infant mortality listed as "29th in the world, - tied with Slovakia and Poland."
One of the quotes off in a Block by itself is the note:
In Spite of your gleaming hospitals and cutting-edge technology, on some basic health measures the U.S. is starting to fall behind--far behind.
One little un-highlighted line that tells part of the story was......
THE BIGGEST PROBLEM WITH THE U,S. health care system is that it has been long designed to respond to illness rather then respond to it....
Your Editors Note: We think the more accurate protrayl would be it is only oriented to treat symptoms, never to fix the cause. We believe Diabetes and Obesity are both but a symptom, you can not "cure" a symptom, you must FIX or CURE the Cause.......

Sixty years of fund raising drives to find a cure for ALL of the degenerative diseases killing 80% of Americans, diseases almost unheard of before the turn of the last century, NOT ONE CURE has been found.....because you CAN NOT cure a symptom.

You have to FIX THE CAUSE. There is little money in "Fixing the Cause" Billions and a life time career in treating symptoms.

Back to the Time article......... The last set aside block in Bold in the article says: National need can meet national will to fix a system that is costing us more and more but delivering less and less.
